오늘 NYU 입학처에서 편지가 왔습니다. 

편지의 제목은 "NYU 간편하게 지원하기"

우리 (NYU)는 미국 대학 지원 과정이 굉장히 복잡하고 벅차다는 것을 잘 알고 있습니다. 그래서 우리는 NYU 입학을 위한 원서 접수 과정을 가능한 간단하게 만들고 싶었습니다. (때로는 큰 프로젝트를 더 작은 단계로 나누었을 때 더 쉽게 관리할 수 있습니다.)

NYU 원서 작성 첫 번째 단계입니다. 공통 원서 (Common Application)을 작성하세요. 나머지 과정을 안내하는 간단한 3분짜리 설명 비디오를 만들었습니다.

NYU (New York Univeristy) 입학 원서를 작성하고 제출하는 방법은 매우 쉽습니다. 여기에 여러분이 알아야 할 정보들이 있습니다. 

Submitting your application to NYU is so easy. Here’s what you need to know.

 Common Application 

NYU는 미국 대학 입시 공통 원서 작성 창구인 (Common Application)을 사용하는 700여 개의 대학교 중 하나이며, Common App을 통해 신입학과 편입학 지원자들은 모든 학교의 원서 작성에 필요한 정보를 한 번에 제출할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다.

여러분은 언제든지 Common App으로 대학 원서 접수 지원자 계정을 만들 수 있습니다. 아래에 여러분이 필요한 정보가 있습니다. 

NYU is one of nearly 700 schools that use the common application while no two schools have the exact same application requirements, the common app allows applicants to submit the information that all schools require once.

You can create an account with the common app any time. Here is what you will need.

NYU 원서 작성 - 첫 번째 단계 

지원자 이름, 생년월일 전화번호, 우편 주소 및 이메일 주소를 작성해야 합니다. 

이 작업이 끝나면 "My Colleges" 목록에서 NYU를 추가하세요. 그리고 빈칸을 작성하세요.

이 과정은 여러분이 지원하고자 하는 모든 대학에 똑같이 적용됩니다.  

1. To start you’ll need to give your name, date of birth, phone number, mailing address, and e-mail address. 

Once that’s done, add NYU to your “My Colleges” list by searching for the University in the College tab. And complete the school specific portion.

You will need to do that for every college you want to apply to.

 NYU 원서 작성 - 두 번째 단계 

우리는 당신이 다녔던 모든 고등학교의 성적표가 필요합니다. 그리고 신입학 지원자들에 한해 Common app 학교 보고서가 필요합니다.

We will need official copies of all of your academic transcripts from any schools you attended and for first-year applicants your common application school report.

 NYU 원서 작성 - 세 번째 단계 

여러분의 SAT 또는 ACT 점수가 필요합니다. 시험을 치를 예정인 학생의 경우, 미래의 시험일자를 표시하세요.

 

You are appropriate standardized testing results or future test dates you have coming up.

 NYU 원서 작성 - 네 번째 단계 

학교 선생님 및 진학 상담 선생님의 강의 평가서 (추천서)가 필요합니다.

 

One teacher or instructor evaluation.

 NYU 원서 작성 - 다섯 번째 단계 

여러분이 원하는 전공에 따라, 오디션, 포트폴리오 또는 기타 추가 항목이 필요합니다. Tisch School of the Arts 와 Steinhardt school의 미술 학부 프로그램 지원자들은, 원서 접수 마감일 한 달 전에 신청서를 제출하도록 권장합니다. 

An audition, portfolio, or other additional requirement may be needed depending on your intended major. Additionally applicants to artistic programs in the Tisch School of the Arts and the Steinhardt school are encouraged to submit their applications a month before our deadlines.

조기 결정 (Early Decision)에 지원하고 싶나요?

NYU가 여러분의 첫 번째 선택이라고 확신하는 학생들을 위해 우리는 총 2번의 조기 결정 (Early Decision) 접수 마감일을 제공합니다. 학생이 어느 대학에 지원하더라도 원서 접수 마감일은 꼭 먼저 확인하세요.

NYU의 첫 번째 조기 결정 (Early Decision I) 마감일은 11월 1일 까지입니다. 그리고 조기 결정 2 (Early Decision II)와 정시 모집 (Regular Decision) 마감일은 1월 1일입니다.

편입생의 경우, 일부 전공에서는 9월 학기 신입생만 뽑고 있다는 사실을 미리 확인하세요. 따라서 편입학 지원자는 희망 전공학과 홈페이지에서 정확한 정보를 얻으세요.

그리고 재정 지원 (Financial Aid) 마감일은 대학 지원 마감일과 다르다는 점을 명심 하세요.

Do you wanna apply early?

Great! NYU offers two rounds of early decision for students who are sure that NYU is their first choice. It’s imperative that you know the deadlines for whichever university you are applying to.

At NYU, early decision I applications are due November 1st. And early decision II and regular decision applications are due January 1st. 

For transfer students, some of our majors only take new students for Fall so check your department specific website to be sure.

And keep in mind, financial aid deadlines are different from NYU’s application deadlines.

NYU 원서 작성 - 추가 질문!  Why NYU? 

NYU는 지원서를 받을 때 "왜 NYU 인가"라는 짧은 에세이를 요구합니다. 이것은 아마도 NYU 원서 지원에서 가장 중요한 부분 중 하나입니다. 그리고 여러분이 지원한 전공에 왜 관심이 있는지 꼭 강조하세요.

Undecided Major 학생의 경우, (지원하는 NYU의 세 캠퍼스 어느 곳에서든) 왜 NYU에서 자신의 전공을 찾고 싶은지에 대해서 작성하면 됩니다. 

NYU also requires that you submit a short response to one question “Why NYU”.

This is probably one of the most important parts of the NYU application. And make sure you talk about why you’re interested in studying in your intended major. 

For “Undecided Major”, Talk about why you want to figure it out at NYU whichever of out three campuses you are applying to.
