내신 9등급, School of Visual Arts 합격하기

School of Visual Arts에서 날아온 의미심장한 편지;; (부제 : 인생역전!)

 School of Visual Arts에서 편지가 날아왔습니다!  

이번에도 어김없이 합격 소식이었지요^^ 그런데 그 내용이 평소와는 좀 달랐는데요. 아래는 SVA에서 날아온 편지의 내용입니다;;;

Dear...

Congratulations! As someone who has demonstrated a record of achievement and artistic promise you are accepted for admission to the School of Visual Arts for the Fall 2014 semester. Upon the successful completion of your high school studies, you are invited to begin your studies at SVA in the first year of the BFA Photography program, with the start of classes on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

An acceptance packet will be mailed to you soon. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. If you haven't already done so, I invite to you visit our campus, tour our professional-grade facilities and meet our students, who can tell you why they chose SVA. As one student in the BFA Advertising and Design Department recently told me, "After living and studying in New York, it quickly becomes impossible to imagine yourself anywhere else."

During the review of your application materials, it was noted that your academic work is not as strong or as consistent as your creative work. Therefore, you are being admitted on a probationary basis, which requires that you maintain a 2.5 GPA in all Art History and Humanities courses and a 3.0 GPA in all Studio courses throughout your first year at SVA.

편지의 내용 SVA 사진학과에 합격하여 9월부터뉴욕에서 사진공부를 할 수 있다는 거였어요.

하지만... 일반적인(?) 합격 통지서와 다르게 조건이 붙어 있더라구요.  ^^;; 

문제의 빨간 글씨에 의하면;;

포트폴리오와 고등학교 성적표 등 지원자료를 검토해 본 결과 고등학교 성적이 

포트폴리오에 비해 썩 좋지 않으므로 (ㅠ.ㅠ) 

입학한 첫 해에 수강하는 모든 역사와 인문학 수업의 성적을 2.5이상을 받을 것!

그리고 사진학과 수업 성적을 3.0 이상을 받을 것!

이 것이 바로 소문으로만 듣던 '조건부 합격 통지' 라는 것인가봐요! 

우리사진학원 유학반 역사상 이러한 편지는 처음 받아봐서 조금 황당하기도 하고 웃음이 나오기도 했어요.

수준 높은 포트폴리오가 낮은 성적을 메꿨다는 뜻이니 뿌듯하기도 하고^^

이 편지 주인의 고등학교 성적은 역대 우리사진학원 유학반 학생들 중에서 굉장히 좋지 못한 편에 속한답니다! 

더 솔직하게 말하자면 100점 보다 0점 쪽에 조금 더 가깝다고나 할까요... 

(전교 최 하위권...미안하다 편지 주인아 그래도 본명은 지웠어...)

 

성적은 좀 부족했지만, 

열심히 사진 공부를 한 결과 미국 명문 예술대인 School of VISUAL ARTS에 당당히 합격했습니다! 

고등학교 성적 하위권에서 미국 명문 예술대학인 SVA의 사진학과 신입생이라니... 

이것이 바로 인생역전이겠지요^^
